How It Works

Consistent with our mission statement we are only interested in saving the life of a dog who would otherwise be put to sleep because its owner is unable to pay the full cost necessary to save their dog.

How do you get help from the Foundation?  What follows are the criteria we have set up for qualifying a pet’s owners:

  1. You must be the legal owner of the dog.

  2. You must be able to qualify to pay a portion of the costs of the procedure, for example, credit card, apply for Care Credit, help from relatives, etc.

  3. Requests for financial assistance must be made through your veterinarian along with his estimate for the cost of the procedure.  You must tell the vet that you will continue to care for the dog.

  4. Your veterinarian must submit the following information:  Age of dog, consequences of no treatment, survivability factors.  We will not be able to help a terminally ill dog.

  5. In cases of extreme emergency, we will rely solely on discussion with your vet as to our qualifying criteria.

  6. If you are approved you will receive a one-time grant of one-half the cost or a maximum of $400.00, whichever is greater.  Payment will be made directly to your veterinarian.

  7. We will not pay for routine shots, spaying/neutering or wellness procedures such as routine blood work or imaging.
Your vet’s request will be reviewed by our own veterinarians who will serve as medical advisors.  Since we are a new group with limited resources, we must abide by the criteria outlined.  We are totally funded by donations at this time.  Hopefully, as we grow, we will be able to offer more assistance in the future.
